“I don’t have anything to post”: An age-old A$$ ache for the ever-busy entrepreneur.

Your business is keeping you busy, you don’t really have the budget for a Social Media Manager and carving out the time to create content for your social media is unfortunately at the tail-end of your very lengthy ‘to do’ list… well, that, and you can’t think of anything worse than being on camera. I feel the same way, honestly.

But hey, let’s not be defeatist here! In a past life (a couple of years ago), I worked in content marketing. For 6 years, I worked for with teams and personal brands who would want to spend hours reinventing the wheel, trying to think of the next big-thing, only to end up posting the same generic stock photo over and over.

Sure, it was a dang-nice stock photo but:

A) It felt generic and insincere

B) It lowered brand authenticity and audience trust

C) It became forgettable, and therefore, damaging to their precious algorithm

The solution? Get clear, plan concisely and most importantly, create a content bank.

Think of it like your brand’s visual toolbox:

  • Get Clear: Spend less time thinking about content, and more time about who you are as a brand and what you have to offer your ideal audience. This is your foundations, without this, you cannot possibly create any content.

  • Plan Concisely: What does your ideal audience really want to see? What will genuinely connect them to your brand. TikTok Dances may go viral for some, but for others, it’s a huge turn off. Quit trying to go viral and focus on clear communication through your visuals. Shoot a set of images and/or short videos that capture your products, the team, your workspace, and any lifestyle moments that connect your brand’s identity with your clients’.

  • Simple Set-Up: The hard part is done… You have your brand plan on paper. Now, all you have to do is find a location (or two) that represents your brand, choose two-three outfits that you feel confident in and set up your phone ready to shoot. For example:

    • Locations: Your office/studio + Your favourite outdoor space that inspires you

    • Outfits: A smart, neutral coloured shirt/blouse + a brand-colour jumper or accessory

    • Shots: A selfie/headshot, full body/walking/working shots, behind the scenes or project teasers

  • Versatility: Each asset should be usable in multiple ways; social posts, ads, email campaigns, or even website updates. For example, a single product shot can become:

    • A carousel post on Instagram

    • A Reel or TikTok showing your offer

    • A background image for an email header

  • Consistency Without Repetition: By reusing your own visuals, you maintain a cohesive look and feel while still keeping content fresh. Your audience starts recognising your style and that builds trust. Win-win!

  • Go Pro: If your budget allows, seeking the support of a photographer, videographer or content creator is worth it’s weight in gold. Which is a lot depending on how heavy their lens is! When working with an industry pro, you are guided by their experience and given a made-for-you bank of content to utilise across multiple platforms and a variety of campaigns. Whether you decide to book a one-off branding session, or choose to commit to a content retainer, you always have a fresh batch of assets ready. No scrambling for photos, no last-minute stock downloads, and no inconsistent visuals.

Why it matters: When your content feels consistent to your audience, your brand looks professional, your campaigns perform better, and you save a tonne of time. Basically, you get more impact from fewer assets… happy days, hey?!

As a sole-trader, I understand the stresses that come with running a business alone. Sometimes, the last thing you want to do it get ready and stand in front of a camera. This is why I always encourage clients to have a content bank at the ready. Less stress, less time, more trust and more results.
