okay, so I do, ‘do’ weddings.
For a very long time, I batted away the idea of doing weddings.
When I was a wide-eyed and tender hearted teen, I wanted to be a wedding filmmaker. I filmed my first wedding at 18 years old and honestly, it wrecked my love of cameras…
Not because anything went wrong — honestly, it went as well as an 18 year old shooting a wedding could — the clients were happy, the result was sweet and no one cried other than me editing the video.
The straw that broke the baby-camels back was the weight of the situation. You only get one go with weddings (well, unless you’re Henry VIII - sorry, crap joke), and if you miss a moment, there’s no repeating it. Sorry, you lost your shot kid! And so, little-Sophie delivered the film, got paid, put her camera away and went on the hunt for a less stressful job.
Turns out, every job is stressful, and she hated being employed… so 12 years later, it came full circle and shooting people once again became my dream. No, not like that, weirdo.
When I started this business in late 2024, I ensured everyone knew that I would never shoot weddings. I would bat requests away like a ping-pong-pro quicker than you can say “look at you now Soph!”
Well fine, I will eat my hat, or whatever the saying is… I shoot weddings. It turns out that I adore getting to document and celebrate beautiful celebrations of love. So…
